Guedelon, Burgundy, France

Guedelon is an archaeological experiment in Burgundy, France. Set in a disused quarry, a team of fifty craftsmen are building a medieval castle from scratch using tyraditional tools and techniques. The site is open to the public from April to October. Take all day to explore, on your own or with a guide. Watch all the trades of thy work on the castle.

Many tour operators run trips there which usually take in some of the other attractions in the area. As well as the castle itself there are the lodges for the many crafts, a working water mill and a large aisled barn at the entrance.
