Museum of Kent Life

Every area has its special heritage. For Kent it is the hop. Hop picking used to be an important event in the lives of families in London. The Museum of Kent Life preserves the memory of those days.

We stayed a couple of nights in the Premier Inn next door and were able to just walk across the lane. The weather was lovely and we spent most of the morning exploring.

The thatched barn was built at Vale Farm near Calcott, north of Canterbury.  It was rescued from vandalism and neglect in 1984 and re-built at Kent Life in 1989.
