St. Fagans Open Air Museum, Wales

The National History Museum at St. Fagan’s just north-west of Cardiff is part of the National Museum of Wales. There is plenty of car parking and a cafe and toilets. Like the Weald & Downland, the museum rescues vernacular buildings and re-erects them on the site. Some are rural buildings set in their own space and others form a more urban environment, clustered together in a village. There are two cruck barns relocated from farms at Stryd Lydan and Hendre Wen re-erected in the 1950s and 1970s.

One of the most unusual buildings is St Teilo's Church. When it was being dismantled prior to being moved to the museum medieval wall paintings were found and these have been lovingly recreated and reimagined inside the church.
