Cruck Barn at Tatton Park,
Cheshire

The cruck barn at Tatton Park Old Hall in Cheshire originally stood in a farm at Frodsham nearby.  It had fallen into decay but was rescued through a young people’s job creation scheme.

It probably dates from the fifteenth or sixteenth century. It is 70 ft long and is divided into four bays by four pairs of crucks with a fifth pair in the end gable. It has a thatched roof and brick gable ends. The box-frame and crucks stand on a sandstone plinth.

The barn and Old Hall are open to the public. Check the website for opening times.
