Wanborough Great Barn,

The fourteenth century barn at Wanborough sits next to St. Bartholomew’s church. It was built for Waverley Abbey. It is a large, timber-framed, aisled barn. It has seven bays with a central midstrey. Some of the aisle posts are braced by shores passing from the wall posts through the wall tie-beam to the aisle-posts and in some cases continuing up to the main tie-beam. One end of the roof is hipped but the other end is gabled. This truncation probably took place in later alterations. There is a granary next door.

The barn has open days, manned by volunteers. Go  to for dates.
