The Abbey Manor at Preston Plucknett was originally called Preston Bermondsey, suggesting it may have belonged to Bermondsey Priory (Ditchfield, The Manor Houses of England), Its later name is derived from Alan de Plugenet, an early lord of the manor. By the early half of the fifteenth century it had passed to a John Stourton, who built the manor house (ibid). The barn is a fine limestone gabled building with eight bays and a single midstrey.

The barn belongs to the Abbey Manor Group Ltd. The Manor House is their headquarters and conference centre. The barn has had a floor inserted at the level of the eaves. It is let to tenants for commercial use.
