Chithurst House is the residence for a community of Buddhist monks as well as a guest house for visitors. Next to it on the site of a former coach house has been erected a Dhamma or meditation hall modelled on a timber-framed aisled barn. It opened in 2004.
It is five bays long with doors at one end. The trusses have crown post supporting a central purlin with collar beams to each of the common rafters. The tie-beams and arcadeplates are supported by arch braces. It has a beautiful polished stone floor and projects a serenity appropriate to its purpose.
