Cholsey Great Barn

“One of the largest barns of which there are any records was at Cholsey, near Wallingford, in Berkshire. It was pulled down early in the last century.

It belonged to Reading Abbey and was a very notable example not only on account of its extreme size, 303' 0" long, 54' 0" wide, 51' 0" high, having a floor area of over 16,000 square feet, but also because its roof appears to have been supported by stone piers four yards in circumference,"
