The owner allowed me to photograph his barns, but asked me not to give their location. There are two barns of typical, midland, box-frame construction (sometimes called “half-timbered”). This is a variation of “post & truss” construction. These barns have brick infill and clay tiled roofs. Notice the ventilation holes in typical diamond pattern.

Because of their construction, this type of barn is quite easy to convert into dwellings. Windows can be put in the frame spaces and doors can also be easily inserted, therefore very few of them remain in agricultural use.
