The Weald & Downland Museum,
Singleton, West Sussex

The Weald & Downland Museum near Singleton in Sussex was one of the first open air museums in England. It now houses a lots of historic buildings including a number of barns. Many of the buildings featured in the BBC 2 series “The Tudor Monastery Farm”. Some of you may also recognise Court Barn from Lee-on-the-Solent, better known as “The Repair Shop” from the TV series.

For those of you who, like me, are interested in the use of timber in construction there is also the “Gridshell” which is a large workshop and depository with a fascinating, modern, oak frame cover.
