The Thatch Barn in Yelling, Cambridgeshire is a beautifully restored, Tudor brick barn. It is five bays long with a central midstrey. It has been in the owner’s family for several generations and, as a child, she sadly watched it fall into decay. She has finally been able to restore it to its former glory. It is now a beautiful and intimate wedding venue with modern toilets fitted into the cowsheds at the rear.
Inside it has an unusual timber frame with wall posts, inside the brick walls, supporting the tie-beams. There are raked struts to the side purlins and collar beams to the upper purlins. The rows of ventilation slits are still in their original form with glass over them to provide insulation. A small bar has been inserted in an outshut built over what was originally the exit
