Turnastone Court Farm

Driving down a minor road in Vowchurch, Herefordshire, we turned a corner and saw these two barns. Just as I had stopped to find the farmer, Jim Rees the property manager for The Countryside Restoration Trust came out of the farmyard. He introduced me to the tenant and they gave me permission to photograph the seventeenth and eighteenth century barns.

The one nearest the road is a post & truss, timber framed barn on a high stone plinth.  The later one is stone with queen post trusses. They are not yet open to the public because of health and safety considerations.

The Trust plans to restore them and use them as an “education centre to ensure the local community and younger generation understand the importance of The CRT’s ambition of wildlife-friendly farming.”
