Sydling St. Nicholas Tithe Barn

Sydling St. Nicholas is a small hamlet in Dorset on a minor road rom the A37 on a ford through a stream called ‘Sydling Water’. The barn stands next to the church and manor house.

Although it has lost a couple of bays at one end and is rather unprepossessing from the outside, it is still a fine example of a stone-cased timber-framed, aisled barn. It is now 9½ bays long but was probably originally 12 bays. It has two wagon entrances on each side, one remaining with a hipped wagon porch.
